A 1st level character facing 1st or 0th level foes can have a pretty good shot at both Recall Knowledge (various skills, level-based DC), Trip, Grab, Shove (Athletics, save-based DC), Feint (Deception, Perception-based DC), or Demoralize (Intimidate, save-based DC).
